Robert A. Alcala’, PE, CLEP, President of R.A. Alcala’ and Associates, Inc. functions as Project Principal and final in-house reviewer for quality control to assure adherence to the project scope of work and ensure that the projects are completed in a timely, cost-effective manner. Mr. Alcala’ is also the electrical engineer or record for all RAAI designs. Mr. Alcala’ also serves as Project Manager with complete responsibility from start to successful completion of the project.
Mr. Alcala’ has more than 36 years of combined work experience in electrical engineering design and electrical construction in the fields of power distribution, lighting, controls, instrumentation, energy management, overhead and underground high voltage power distribution, project management, and installation supervision.
Mr. Alcala’s experience in both electrical engineering design and construction provide the basis for sound practical design application. The dual experience also provides the unique insight into the proper preparation of construction cost estimates, as well as proper field inspection techniques during the construction phase of the projects.
Mr. Alcala’ obtained his BSEE from Lawrence Institute of Technology (1966) and his MSEE from Western Michigan University (1972). He is a registered Professional Engineer in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia. He is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), the American Facilities Engineers, and the Society of American Value Engineers.
Mr. Alcala’ has completed a 40-hour Save-approved Value Engineering MOD I Workshop sponsored by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command in San Diego, California. Completion of this workshop is the first step to becoming a Certified Value Specialist. He has participated in several value engineering studies.
